The Components preferences determines which component registries Taverna Workbench is aware of. The component registries contain the components (organized into component families).

The set of registries in the preferences determines which components you can include in the service panel and, if you are a component developer, where you can publish components.

These preferences can be changed by:

  1. In Taverna, select Preferences from the Taverna or File menu.
  2. Select Components preferences from the Preferences pop up window.
  3. Change the preferences as shown below.
  4. Click Apply.
  5. Close the Preferences pop up window.

Component registries are given a registry name that is then used in the Workbench instead of the location.

Within the preferences you can click on a registry in the table and then Remove registry. This will remove the corresponding registry.

You need to click Apply to keep the changes to the known registries.

Adding a local registry

To add a component registry that is on a file system, click the Add local registry button. This will show a dialog.

You can enter a name for the local registry and specify its location as the path to the directory where the components are (or will be) stored. You can also Browse to find the location. When you click OK, the new local registry will be added to the registries table.

Adding a remote registry

You can use a myExperiment-API compliant website as a remote registry of components.

To add a remote registry, click the Add remote registry button. This will show a dialog.

You can enter a name for the local registry and specify the web location of the myExperiment compliant website. When you click OK, the new remote registry will be added to the registries table.
