Modifying the symbolic locations can be used to add, remove or edit a symbolic location. A symbolic location "points to" the explicit location that will be used to run tool services associated with the symbolic location.

Default symbolic location

Taverna has a default symbolic location that initially points to the default local explicit location. You can edit this symbolic location, e.g. to make it point to another explicit location, but you cannot delete it.

Adding a symbolic location

To add a symbolic location, make sure symbolic locations is in the Modify selection and then click the Add button.

This will bring up a dialog where you can specify the name of the new symbolic location and select the explicit location to which it corresponds.

Cancel does prevent the creation of the symbolic location.

Removing a symbolic location

To remove a symbolic location, make sure symbolic locations is in the Modify selection, select the symbolic location you want to remove from the list and then click the Remove button.

If any tool services are set to run at the removed location, then they will be changed to run at the default local symbolic location.

You cannot remove the default symbolic location

Editing a symbolic location

To edit a symbolic location, make sure symbolic locations is in the Modify selection, select the symbolic location you want to edit from the list and then click the Edit button. This will pop up a dialog where you can select an explicit location for the symbolic location.
